Why You Should Start a Blog in 2020
Updated: 4 days ago
Are blogs still relevant?
I want to be my own boss.
Yes, blogs are still relevant and yes, you should start one now.
For a long time, I had wanted to start a YouTube channel but I had no idea where to start. So time passed and passed. At the beginning of 2018, I was talking to my friend and we were discussing bloggers and how they make money. We came to realize that we both wanted to make money online and that we would put that into motion.
Fast forward to 2020, I haven't made a penny on line except for a shirt that I sold on Poshmark for $7, haha! That's not the point though. I did start a YouTube channel, converted my Instagram into a business account and launched this blog. Honestly, I could've done a lot more but I'm not gonna beat myself up about it. I know my time will come, I just have to work harder and smarter. This post though is not about how little I've done so far but more of a reminder to myself of why I started blogging in the first place...
I want to be my own boss
I want to be my own boss. We all want to. Who wants to fill someone else's pocket when you could be filling your own. I want all the freedom that comes with working for yourself. I want to make my own hours. Work at my own pace. Work from home. I want to be in control of how much money I make.
I want to be creative
I want to have fun at work. I want to and like to make content. I love the whole creative process. Brainstorming the ideas. Writing the posts. Filming and editing my YouTube videos. I actually love editing videos. It might just be one of my favorite things to do.
I want to inspire and be inspired
I know other women out there share my same ideals and beliefs and I want to connect with them and learn from them. I want them to be able to learn from me too. I love homemaking, it's my passion. I love anything and everything that has to do with home management. And through the internet I have come across so many women who feel the same way I do. And I am so grateful for that because now I know I am not the only who cares about the correct way to set a table!
I want to leave a legacy
The most important reason why I started blogging was to leave a legacy. Many people are skeptical about bloggers and how they make money. But obviously it is attainable. It goes without saying that there are millions of bloggers making money. So I am not sure as to why people are still skeptical. Anyway, I know that through blogging I can reach the goals I have that I would never be able to reach doing another job. I want to provide for my family. I want to give them a good life. I want to build a business that they can be proud of and carry on. I want to leave them generational wealth. I want my future children to have a better life than I did.
For a long time, I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. I kept thinking small. I kept asking myself what could a job provide for me and how could that job help me reach my goals? Yes, some jobs can provide you with means to reach your goals, but that's the exception not the rule. I am positive that blogging and working for myself will take me to my goals. I have finally found a career that is something that I love and will give me the freedom to love life on my terms.
Do you guys blog? What are your career dreams?
